Originally from Peru, Aurora immigrated here more than 20 years ago with a professional background in insurance for the public sector.

She has worked as a case manager at NHNC for nearly ten years.  She specializes in helping new clients learn about community resources, helping immigrant families and supporting families through our Thriving Families Program.  She has helped new Americans in previous positions at the Parent Services Project, First Five of Marin, Marin County Health & Human Services (West Marin) and through her work in the mortgage industry.  On Saturdays, she assists residents at Pickleweed Library in San Rafael.

“It feels good to help people – this is what I love to do. I really can’t imagine not doing it!

Meet Ana Rivera, Senior Case Manager

Ana Rivera is grateful that she has had the opportunity to support low-income families at NHNC for more than 35 years.

Ana immigrated here from El Salvador when she was just 21 years old.  Although there were no English as a Second Language (ESL) classes available in Marin at that time, she learned English at the College of Marin while pursuing an Associate degree and bilingual education certification.

“I see many people struggling in very difficult situations. I am happy when I see people learn to advocate for themselves and their children”

Meet Isaura Resendiz, Senior Case Manager

iresendiz@nhnc.org
415-897-4147 x18

Isaura graduated from the University of Mexico with a degree in Social Work and immigrated here to join her older brother who lived in Novato for many years and had helped her with her college tuition.

She first came to NHNC to learn English in an ESL class in the evening and also traveled by bus to learn English at the College of Marin during the day, while she earned money as a nanny and worked the night shift in a nursing home.  After her English improved, she returned to NHNC to talk with an employment counselor, and landed her first job in her field at NHNC as a case manager.  She has excelled in that position for nearly 20 years.  Isaura has also done contract work for the County’s Children & Family Services and recently became certified as a Visitation Supervisor through Marin County’s Superior Court.
