David Short,  President

Bank of Marin

As Vice President and Branch Manager of the Bank of Marin branch in Novato, David works to strengthen the development of Novato. He has a long history of volunteering in the North Bay, including serving as the President of the Board of Petaluma People Services Center. He’s Vice President and is currently serving on our Strategic Planning Committee, and believes that by taking action, we can better ourselves and those around us.

Selwyn Eddy III, Vice President

Retired, Special Effects Film Industry

Before joining the Novato Human Needs Center board, Selwyn was a committed volunteer, earning the “2014 Volunteer of the Year” award for his many hours of volunteer service in both our Emergency Food Pantry and our annual Holiday Share program. He is currently a member of our Development Committee. Prior to retirement, Selwyn was in the motion picture industry, and spent 34 years at Industrial Light and Magic, the special effects company created by George Lucas. He has lived in Novato for more than 30 years.

Jane Kern, Treasurer

Certified Public Accountant

Jane is a self-employed Certified Public Accountant and has lived in Novato for many years. She has been volunteering at Novato Human Needs Center for 15 years. She is currently the Board Treasurer, and serves on both the Finance and Executive Committees.

Uday Wagle, Secretary

Retired, Chemical Engineer

With a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering as well as a MBA, Uday worked as a chemical engineer. Before retiring, he was Plant Manager and Program Manager at Waters Corp. Uday chairs the Strategic Planning Committee, serves on the Executive Committee and volunteers with his wife each week in our Emergency Food Pantry.

Mark Hoffman

Nonprofit Organization Consultant

Mark was a consultant in the energy and environment field, has done government work, and owns an executive search firm. He has served on a variety of Boards in Marin County, is a facilitator for AgeSong support groups, and has helped nonprofit organizations with their strategic planning process. He has a Masters in Regional Planning as well as a Masters in Public Policy. Mark spent two years in East Africa with the US Peace Corps. He is the Board President, and chairs the Executive Committee.

Cathy Janigian

Marketing Communications Consultant

Cathy is a Marketing Communications Consultant. She is a life-long resident of the Bay Area, and has lived in Marin County for 26 years. She has an MBA, and has worked in the Financial Services industry for 35 years. She is currently the head of our Development Committee. Cathy has a long history of volunteerism at numerous organizations in Marin.

Isaac Munene

Bradley Real Estate

Isaac Munene is a successful realtor with Bradley Real Estate. He finds great joy in helping people realize their dreams and the pride that comes with home ownership. His educational background is in counseling before he became certified as a real estate broker. He recently joined the Board of Directors in August of 2015 and is a member of the Board’s Development Committee. He is also active as a volunteer pastor in his local church.

Janna Morbitz

Novato Unified School District

As an NUSD teacher with 15 years of experience in schools with low socio-economic populations, Janna has seen firsthand the positive impact that safety net services like those at NHNC has on families. She joined the Board of NHNC because the well-being of Novato’s children is very important to her, and she wants to help ensure that each student has the opportunity to achieve success, despite their limitations at home. Janna has also volunteered on the board of the Novato Mothers Club for several years.

“I believe that in order to have a healthy community, all people must be valued for what they contribute. I love NHNC for helping give vulnerable people a chance to be heard and respected, and for helping each client realize their goals and become productive members of our community.”

Sandra Lara Trejo

Straus Family Creamery

As Executive Assistant and People & Culture Partner at Straus Family Creamery, Sandra has over 17 years of diverse experience and background in administration, research, human resources and marketing.  Sandra has also volunteered at the Holiday Share Program for several years, and considers it a privilege to give back to an organization that holds a very dear spot in her heart.
